Dear Friends, Fellow Art and Color Lovers,Spring reminds us to live from abundance, not lack, to bloom wildly, gratefully, and with open arms. This month, we honor Hydrangea, a flower that, much like spring itself, holds multitudes: In flower language across cultures, hydrangeas symbolize heartfelt emotions (from soft apologies to deep gratitude, from romance to understanding), healing through connection, and the layered complexity of human feeling. Their colors echo this richness: pink for love and sincerity, blue for deep understanding, white for grace and purity, purple for abundance and soulful connection. Whether offered in celebration or apology, this flower carries a message worth listening to. And just like sustainability, it’s a symbol of infinite possibility, a reservoir of joy waiting to be tapped.

Hydrangea Magic: Soft Power & Abundant Color Working with dried hydrangeas rescued from a past event, I was stunned by their alchemical potential: brilliant almost neon hot pink, vibrant yellows, and a grounding sage green emerged from of the silk bundle dye experiments. The dye bath was so potent I couldn’t let it go to waste, so I kept going, turning the remaining liquid into inks and pigments (scroll down for more). You know the motto here: Nothing wasted, everything transformed. True abundance! Hydrangea also carries healing benefits I didn’t know about until now: in traditional herbal practices, its root has been used to support kidney health and soothe inflammation. Like the bloom, its medicine teaches us about fluidity, release, and nourishment from within. Let us all remember this month, abundance doesn’t mean excess. It means “Enoughness”. Contentment. Seeing the world with new eyes through the beauty of what is. And that’s the true spirit of sustainability that we will also touch on the Wellness section below.
